Your media stays on your device

Spotlight reads, previews, edits, and exports media inside your browser. Media files, filenames, project content, and local paths are never sent to Spotlight analytics or error reporting.

Local project storage

Projects are stored in this browser using IndexedDB. Clearing site data or browser storage can delete them. Portable project files contain edit instructions and source filenames, but do not embed source media by default.

Optional diagnostics

If telemetry is enabled by the site operator, Spotlight sends only event names, broad format or mode choices, counts, coarse size or duration buckets, capability flags, and error categories. Feedback diagnostics are optional and shown before submission.

File handles

Browsers that support the File System Access API may store a permissioned reference to a file you selected. You control that permission in your browser and may need to grant access again later.
